New Delhi. The World Cup (World Cup 2023) will start next month. All the teams are busy preparing for this mega tournament to be held on Indian soil from 5th October. They also include defending champions England, who have announced their squad for the World Cup. The board has given a big shock to the fans by taking some of its decisions. One of which included dropping in-form batsman Harry Brook. But now Brooke has shown the board a mirror by scoring a storming century in a week.
Before the mega tournament, English team will challenge New Zealand in ODI and T20 series. The team selected for the ODI series against the Kiwi team will be the first selection for the World Cup. However, according to the rules, England have the flexibility to make the change until September 27. England announced the 15-man squad for the World Cup and ODI series on 17 August. In which Harry Brook’s name was not mentioned but star all-rounder Ben Stokes returned from retirement. Stokes announced his retirement from ODI cricket last year. Harry Brook has shown a mirror to the board with a storming century in The Hundred after being dropped.
Harry Brook became the superchargers’ troubleshooter
The Superchargers batting looked very fragile against Wales Fire. Batting first, the Superchargers team scattered like leaves. 7 batsmen of the team could not even cross double figures. On the other hand, Harry Brook alone dominated the entire XI of the opposing team. Brook played an explosive innings of 105 runs with the help of 11 fours and 7 sky sixes. Brooke spent just 42 balls to play a heavy innings.
Harry Brooke has played a blistering innings for England in Tests and T20Is. He is currently in great form, yet the England Cricket Board has not trusted this batsman. Brooke has played 3 ODIs so far with 86 runs from his bat. Looking at Harry Brook’s form, there were speculations that this batsman could make an entry in the World Cup. But England has lived up to the expectations of the fans.
