Amjad, who started his career in theatre, achieved a breakthrough in films which became a landmark. Amjad Khan was fond of tea
Amjad Khan was so fond of tea that he drank 30 cups of tea a day. If media reports are to be believed, his staff was also disturbed by his tea drinking habit. Once Amjad Khan did not get tea on the sets of a play, he got angry and called the staff to ask why. On this the staff told that their milk is used up in making 25-30 cups of tea. He could not get tea due to non-availability of milk. Amjad also did something amazing on this one. The next day he arrived on the set with a buffalo and said that now there should be no shortage of milk for his tea.
Started as a child artist
Amjad Khan acted as a child actor in the film ‘Nazneen’ when he was just 11 years old. Amjad’s father Jayant was also an actor in this film. Jayant and Salim Khan had a good friendship. Salim used to visit Jayant’s house frequently and in the meantime, his eyes fell on Amjad for the role of Gabbar Singh in the film Sholay. Amjad auditioned and was later selected for the role. The film Shoal changed his fortunes.
