Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales was fined 90 by the International Football Federation’s (FIFA) disciplinary committee on Saturday amid furore after he grabbed player Jenny Hermoso by the head and kissed her on the lips after Spain’s win at the Women’s World Cup. Temporarily suspended for days. “Jorge Ivan Palacio, Chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, has decided to temporarily suspend Luis Rubiales from all football-related activities at national and international level,” FIFA said in a statement.

It may be noted that Rubiales was supposed to resign on Friday, but he refused to step down. When Hermoso said she did not consent to the kiss, the RFEF threatened legal action in her defense.
The disciplinary committee also ordered Rubiales and RFEF officials to have no contact with Hermoso or the people around him.
“Luis Rubiales, the RFEF and (European football body) UEFA have been informed of the appropriate compliance with the decision adopted by the Chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee,” the statement said.
Rubiales grabbed Hermoso and kissed her on the lips after Spain’s women’s team defeated England in the World Cup final. The World Cup-winning Spanish team, as well as several other players, came out in support of Hermoso, saying they would not play international matches as long as Rubiales remained at the head of the federation.
