New Delhi. There is a constant debate about which team the Indian cricket team will field in the ICC ODI World Cup. Former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir also chose his team and did not include Shreyas Iyer’s name in it. He also revealed the real reason behind it. The World Cup is scheduled to be held in India in October-November this year.
The ICC ODI World Cup to be hosted by India is just days away. The ICC has given September 28 as the last date for all the countries participating in the tournament to announce their squads. The BCCI will announce the 15-member squad for the World Cup on September 5. In the Asia Cup match being played between India and Nepal on September 4, former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir selected the team during the commentary. He did not include Shreyas Iyer in his team.
Suryakumar Yadav was picked by Gautam Gambhir in place of Shreyas Iyer in his World Cup squad. He announced the names of his team players during the commentary during the match. On keeping Shreyas out of the team selected by Gambhir, he said that if you want to score quick runs in the last over, Suryakumar Yadav has a batsman who can do it well. He has done this many times in T20 matches for India. Shreyas Iyer is a good player but he didn’t get a place in the 15 players. On the other hand, Washington Sundar’s name was a surprise as the selectors did not include him in the prospect list.
