Adani-Hindenburg Row: The Supreme Court on Tuesday did not hear the status report of the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s (SEBI) probe into the Adani-Hindenburg case. The Supreme Court has adjourned this hearing. Let it be known that on August 25, SEBI presented the status report of its investigation on the Adani group to the court.
Last date was till 14 August: In the month of January Hindenburg After the allegations leveled by the Supreme Court, SEBI was asked to investigate and submit a report. The Supreme Court had set a time limit of 2 months for the investigation but SEBI had sought six months more time. Rejecting SEBI’s demand, the court asked SEBI to submit its investigation report by August 14. However, the capital market regulator sought an extension of 15 days and submitted its status report on August 25.
The content of SEBI’s report has not been made public yet. However, a separate report said that Sebi’s probe report included a total of 24 probes related to various aspects of the Adani group’s activities.
Threat of Penalty: News agency Reuters has quoted two sources as saying that the Sebi report has raised some questions about the Adani group. In its investigation, the case of violation of some rules has come to light. These rules relate to the limits of disclosure and holding of offshore funds by listed entities. Adani Group may be penalized in such circumstances.
