Sushmita Sen recently impressed the audience with her performance as transgender social activist Gauri Sawant in her latest web series ‘Tali’. Sushmita often shares her outspoken views with fans and the public and recently recalled her ‘bindas’ stance in the 90s and its consequences. In a recent interview with Film Companion, when Sushmita Sen was asked if she ever paid a price or faced any consequences for her ‘bindaas’ attitude, she said, “Definitely … in the 90s.” Because it was quite a decade. Different societies back then, speaking your mind and speaking your mind was misunderstood. People considered it a bad thing. This actress or person should not appear in front of children or anyone…otherwise there may be wrong effects.
Sushmita said that in those days magazines were told not to feature me on the cover page. This is because of my statements. But I don’t blame them because I was very loud and clear. I thought if you take away my freedom of expression… what freedom do I really have? So am I afraid to speak my mind… I’m just learning how to speak my mind better. Which I learned because I don’t think I already had those tricks.
Sushmita Sen also asked if things have changed since the 90s and said, “The world is more accepting now.” He also said that the situation has improved even though there are elements in the society who say ‘O God’.
