In terms of manufacturing, India will be an important country in the future. Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) President and CEO Young Liu has said this. His latest remarks added to the growing chorus of global voices praising India’s bold move to position itself as an electronics and hi-tech manufacturing powerhouse.

Speaking to reporters in Taipei, a top executive of a Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company said the development of the entire ecosystem and industrial chain and growth opportunities in India are “huge opportunities”.
“If there are no major changes, India will be a very important manufacturing country in the future,” Liu said.
He said that in the past it took 30 years to build an entire supply chain ecosystem in China, but in India it would take a “reasonable amount of time” and the process would be shorter given the experience. Pointing to the advent of new technologies like AI and generative AI, he said, the environment is also not the same.
In July this year, while addressing Semicon India 2023, Foxconn said it was optimistic about the direction of India’s semiconductor roadmap. He emphasized that Taiwan is and will remain India’s most reliable and trustworthy partner. “Let’s do it together,” Foxconn’s top boss said at the time.
Government sources said the Foxconn chief is supporting PM Modi’s Make in India initiative.
Citing a recent media briefing in Taipei, Liu told reporters – reforms and policies in India have created huge opportunities for the development of the entire electronics manufacturing ecosystem, sources said.
