India’s batting coach Vikram Rathore said ahead of their Asia Cup Super Four match against Pakistan that his batsmen are capable of scoring big against a bowling attack led by Shaheen Shah Afridi. Fast bowlers Afridi and Haris Rauf rocked India’s top order by scoring 66 for four in 15 overs in the Group A league match. Rathore told a press conference after India’s 10-wicket win over Nepal on Monday that we will try to bat better in the Super Four matches. The situation was different in the last match. Their bowling attack is good.
Who is in India’s World Cup 2023 squad, Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul? Know the opinion of experts
He said, “It’s not that we can’t face them (Pakistan’s fast bowlers). They have a good bowling attack and someday they will dominate. When we start well our batsmen are able to score big.
Wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan scored 82 off 81 balls against Pakistan and shared 138 runs with Hardik Pandya to help India to 266 runs. The match could not be completed due to rain. Rathore said it is a good sign for India that they have two useful batsmen in Kishan and KL Rahul to pick from in the middle order.
He said, “Isha batted really well against Pakistan. KL Rahul has been performing well for the team for the past two years. This is a good problem. We have two good players to choose from. Better to pick one of these players than two struggling batsmen.
Rathore said India will decide to have four specialist bowlers or three bowlers and one all-rounder in the playing XI depending on the circumstances.
He said, “The presence of Shardul Thakur adds depth to the batting and he can bowl as well. Mohammed Shami is a good bowler but by picking him we have to compromise our batting a bit. But there will be some matches where we can go with our four fast bowlers.
Rathore said, “If we play on a pitch where we need an extra spinner, we have a good option in the form of Akshar Patel. So it’s good that we have a team that can play in all kinds of conditions.
