Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder for the upcoming World Cup starting October 5 and Asia Cup starting later this month Hardik Pandya He is a strong contender to become the vice-captain of the Indian team. Pandya is currently captaining the T20I team, while Bumrah was the team’s vice-captain before him. In such a scenario, the Baroda all-rounder is expected to have a tough fight with the fast bowler, as per a PTI report.
A BCCI source said on 19 August, “Bumrah is ahead of Pandya in terms of leadership seniority as he led the Test team in 2022. He was vice-captain of the ODI team before Pandya during the ODI tour of South Africa.” No surprise if Bumrah is made vice-captain for both Asia Cup and World Cup. That is why he has been handed the Ireland captaincy in place of Ruturaj.”
What gives Jasprit Bumrah a headache, said after the second T20I match
Hardik Pandya has been successful as captain in IPL for Gujarat Titans. Under his captaincy, the team won the title for the first time in 2022 and this year the team lost the final with the last ball. However, many feel that astute tacticians like Ashish Nehra are also behind this success. As far as the Indian team is concerned, Pandya’s captaincy in the recently concluded T20I series against West Indies was criticized.
