Harris said he is open to running for president if Biden is unable to complete his presidential term. Asked about her readiness to assume Oval Office duties during her foreign visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, Kamala Harris said taking action as president, if necessary, is an important part of her job.
Harris’ response came after she initially tried to deflect a question about the 80-year-old Biden pointing to his presidential accomplishments. Associated Press reporter Chris Magarian asked Harris that ‘questions about the president’s age often go hand in hand with the question of how you would accept that role if necessary. Are you ready for that possibility? Did serving as vice president prepare you for that position?’ Harris, a 58-year-old Indian-origin vice president representing Biden at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ annual summit in Jakarta, answered yes.
