The trailer of Hansal Mehta’s upcoming web series ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ has been released on Tuesday evening. The web series will show how Abdul Karim Telgi pulled off India’s biggest stamp paper scam worth Rs 30,000 crore. One person shook not only the entire economy but the country. The trailer also revealed that theater actor Gagan Dev will play the role of Riyar Telgi. Hansal Mehta earlier came up with ‘Scam 1992’ in the year 2020 in which Prateek Gandhi played the lead role.
The trailer is strong
The trailer begins with the voices of various characters talking about Telgi in the background. Some call it ‘snake’, some ‘smart’ and some ‘false coin’. Telgi introduces himself as a hero. He says, ‘I understand the language of profit as you understand the language of law.’ Another dialogue comes from Telgi, ‘Country’s economy is Kuber’s treasure, stamp paper is its key’. A man at the printing press says, ‘Congratulations, you’ve become a father. Stamp paper is born. Telgi smiles and ‘Scam 1992’ music plays in the background.
How will the authorities catch Telgi?
In the trailer, the investigating officers are trying to nab Telgi. Finally, Telgi talks to an officer about the bribery transaction. He records his talk on a cassette. He also has tape recorded conversations of other people which he collects.
When can you watch this show?
This time the web series is directed by Tusshar Hiranandani. Hansal Mehta is the show runner. It is produced by Sameer Nair’s company Applause Entertainment. ‘Scam 2003’ will stream on Sony LIV from September 1.
