LPG Price 2014 vs 2023: Non-subsidized domestic LPG cylinder prices have come back to September 2014 rates. According to Indian Oil, on September 1, 2014, domestic LPG cylinder prices in Delhi were Rs. 901, in Kolkata Rs. 945, in Mumbai Rs. 926.5 and in Chennai Rs. 902.50 were. Now in September 2023 i.e. after 9 years it is still Rs 903 in Delhi, Rs 929 in Kolkata, Rs 902.50 in Mumbai and Rs 918.50 in Chennai.
In fact, the government announced a drastic reduction in domestic LPG cylinder prices and from August 30, an LPG cylinder became cheaper by Rs 200 altogether. Not only this, the government has also given a subsidy of Rs 200 to the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana. That means the cylinder has become cheaper by Rs 400 for them. After this relief, the price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder was also reduced by Rs 158 on September 1. Last month, its price was also reduced by Rs 99.75.

Relief from cuts to around 35 crore families
Along with this, the government has also announced 75 lakh new free gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, after which the total number of beneficiaries of the scheme will reach 10.35 crore. The reduction in gas prices will provide relief to around 35 crore families. The government is subsidizing this reduction, i.e. the government will deposit an amount of Rs 200 on each cylinder in the account of the petroleum companies.

In 9 years, the price of a 19 kg cylinder has increased by only 28 rupees
If we talk about 19 Forte commercial cylinders, on September 1, 2014, they were available at Rs 1503 in Delhi, Rs 1588 in Kolkata, Rs 1598 in Mumbai and Rs 1723 in Chennai. As of today, it is available at Rs 1522 in Delhi, Rs 1636 in Kolkata, Rs 1482 in Mumbai and Rs 1695 in Chennai. That is, its increase in the last nine years is only Rs. 19 to Rs. 28 has happened.
