Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been embroiled in controversy and has been heavily criticized by the non-Muslim community. In fact, PM Anwar had openly converted a Hindu youth to Islam after offering Jumani Namaz in Klang, Selangor a few days back. Since then he has been targeting people. The non-Muslim community says that Malaysia is a multicultural country where the sensitive issue is now overshadowed.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Penang Prof. P. Ramasamy said that the Prime Minister does not respect Indians. The non-Muslims trusted Anwar, but they could not change their behavior. Indians and the non-Muslim community have sacrificed a lot for Malaysia, but PM Anwar’s treatment of them has been humiliating. Anwar had previously misbehaved with an Indian student. Their attitude can never be accepted. Now he has publicly converted a Hindu to Islam.
Prof. Ramasamy raised the question, said – Why did the PM come forward for religious conversion?
Prof. P. Ramasamy has said that does the Prime Minister think it is right to do this and can this be expected from the PM? No Malaysian PM had done this before today. Why did PM Anwar come forward for religious conversion? What is special about them? Why did he consider it necessary to convert? What can be understood from this act of PM Anwar, is he going to say that no religion other than Islam can live with him? Is proselytism a way out of a multi-religious and multicultural society in Malaysia?
