As per the National Medical Commission (NMC) notification, the classes for students enrolled in MBBS session 2023-24 have started at SNMMCH from Friday. It started with an orientation program and foundation course in the lecture theater of the medical college. The foundation course will last for one week. On this occasion, the in-charge principal of the medical college Dr. Makardhwaj Prasad, Incharge Superintendent Dr. D.P. Dr. Bhushan, Enrollment Incharge. Ganesh Kumar and all department heads and doctors were present.
Orientation Program Co-ordinator Dr. Shashibala Nag introduced the students and their parents to the officials of the Medical College. Along with this, he was also told about the medical college in detail. Information was given about the arrangements, methods of study, hospital, hostel etc. Out of the 82 students enrolled in the orientation program so far, 62 students were accompanied by their parents. After the orientation program the foundation course of the students started. In which the 12th study will be rehearsed and through this the students will be admitted to the main course of MBBS. Students who participated in the orientation and their parents also visited the medical college.
18 seats are still vacant
So far 82 students have enrolled themselves in SNMMCH against 100 MBBS seats. All 18 seats are vacant. There are 15 All India quota seats, 83 state quota seats and two central nominee quota seats. Against this, 11 students from All India Quota and 71 students from State Quota have registered. Of these two quotas, four and 12 seats are vacant respectively. Two rounds of counseling from All India Quota have been done and registration has been completed. Second round of counseling for state quota has been held. In which all 12 vacant seats have been allotted to students. Among these three students are disabled. The nomination started from September 10.
