Ben Stokes recently retired from ODIs
Tim Paine has questioned his decision
New Delhi. All-rounder Ben Stokes, who made England the first ODI World Champion 4 years ago, has withdrawn from ODIs for the October-November World Cup in India. Former Australia captain Tim Paine has questioned Stokes’ return from retirement. Paine said that this decision of England Test captain Stokes shows his arrogance. It’s just me… me and me. Stokes retired from ODIs after taking over the reins of England’s Test team last year due to a busy cricket schedule and has now taken a U-turn on retirement 50 days before the World Cup.
Tim Paine said on Sen Radio, “Ben Stokes’ unretirement from ODIs is really interesting. It was just me…me and me, wasn’t it? I will choose where and when I want to play. I will only play in big tournaments. Thanks to those who played all year. Because you go and sit on the bench. Because I just want to play.”
Stokes returns from retirement
The former Australian skipper continued, “To have Stokes come into the team after taking a U-turn from retirement is unfair to players who have been playing for 12 months. Because he had to make room for stocks. Let us tell you that the England team management recently requested Stokes to reconsider his decision to retire from ODIs. Following this, Stokes returned from retirement and was selected in the England squad for the 4-match ODI series against New Zealand.

Ben Stokes’ return has left Harry Brook out of the squad for the ODI series against New Zealand. Brooke made a brilliant debut in international cricket. He has played more Tests and T20s. But, so far he has been able to play only 3 ODIs and now his chances of playing in the World Cup are also less.
