Medical Research Department in MBBS Mandatory, New NMC Rule Hits Promotion of 200 Seats

Now integrated medical research department will be mandatory for MBBS course in all medical colleges of Uttarakhand. NMC has added this new department to promote research in medical field. After receiving the detailed guidelines, preparations have been started to establish this department in all the medical colleges of the state. Principal of Doon Medical College Dr. Ashutosh Saina has confirmed this. He said that when the NMC team comes for UG accreditation, it will be necessary to have this department.

NMC has not kept TB and chest, emergency medicine and PMR in the list of 21 departments prescribed for UG accreditation in recently released guidelines. That means these sections will not be required for validation. Principal Dr. Saina said that this department will continue to run keeping in mind the treatment of patients.

200 seat campaign shock
The Medical College has done a lot of work in the field of research, now a full-fledged department will be established. On the other hand, the drive to conduct 200 MBBS seats in Doon Medical College from the next session has been hit. NMC has now set a limit of 150 seats in medical colleges.

Must pass MBBS in maximum 10 years
Till now there was no time limit for passing MBBS first year, so the time limit has been fixed in the new guidelines of NMC. According to the new guidelines, MBBS first year has to be passed in a maximum of 4 years, whereas earlier there was no stipulation of years to pass it. MBBS student has to complete MBBS course in maximum 10 years.
