Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad on Saturday accused the Narendra Modi government at the Center of taking a hostile stance on the caste survey conducted in Bihar. Addressing a book release function here, Prasad claimed that oppression of Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes continued as “feudal traits do not go away so easily”.

He alleged that the BJP government at the Center had shown “disrespect” to the caste survey ordered by his fellow Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as petitions challenging it were being heard in the Supreme Court. The Solicitor General argued.
The former Chief Minister of Bihar said, why should not caste survey be done? Without knowing the actual figures, we operate on the basis of guesswork, and the allocation to the weaker sections is made in such a way that it is a favor and not a matter of right.
