New Zealand Cricket Board ie NZC has made a big announcement. New Zealand Cricket has included a number of veterans in the support staff, who will accompany the team on several overseas tours, including the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. NZC has partnered former England batsman Ian Bell, former captain Stephen Fleming and former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq.
These veterans will form part of the team’s support staff on overseas tours over the next few months. Ashes winner Ian Bell, who is coming into the world of coaching from 2020, will be the assistant coach in the T20 series against his country starting on August 30. He will replace Luke Ronchi as the batting coach for the ODIs against England and Bangladesh in preparation for the World Cup. Luke Ronchi and Shane Jurgensen will be present for the World Cup under Gary Stead.
Former England wicket-keeper batsman James Forster will serve as assistant coach for the ODI series against England as well as the World Cup. Chennai Super Kings Head coach Fleming will coach the New Zealand setup for the second time during the ODI against England, while former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq will assist the team during the Test series in Bangladesh after the World Cup.
