The average balance in a Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana account is Rs 4,076.
New Delhi:
The total number of Jan Dhan accounts in the country has crossed 50 crores. 56 percent of these accounts belong to women. The Finance Ministry gave this information on Friday. About 67 percent of these accounts have been opened in villages and small towns, it said in a statement. Total deposits in these accounts are Rs. 2.03 lakh crores, while out of these accounts about Rs.34 crores of cards have been given free of cost.
