After the recent ‘Bharat’ alliance meeting in Mumbai, Congress leaders in Punjab on Tuesday indicated that they are against any alliance with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Ahead of the meeting of the leaders of the Punjab unit of the Congress here, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wading said that he is preparing to contest all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab.

Wading and Opposition Leader Pratap Singh Bajwa held several meetings with Congress district presidents, MLAs and other leaders to discuss the current political situation in the state and the issue of an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party. According to party sources, the leaders at the meeting opposed an alliance with AAP for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and asked Wading and Bajwa to convey the sentiments of party leaders and workers to the Congress high command against any such move.
Apart from Wedding and Bajwa, many senior leaders including former minister Brahm Mohindra, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, MLA Rajkumar Chhabbewal, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Aruna Chaudhary and MP Mohammad Sadiq attended the meeting. Senior leaders of the state Congress, including Bajwa, are saying that there will be no alliance with the AAP in the state.
Earlier, state president Wading told reporters, “We have been asked to be ready to contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats (in Punjab) and we are ready to contest.” AAP is raising the burning issues of the state against the government. . The Congress leader said, “Even today we are fighting against the AAP government on Punjab issues. We have been constantly raising the issues of the country and Punjab. We staged a dharna demanding compensation for the damage caused by the flood.
Wading said that in West Bengal Trinamool Congress is contesting against CPI(M) and CPI and in Punjab Congress will continue to contest against AAP. “When it comes to saving the country and democracy, we stand together,” said Wading on the ‘India’ alliance. The ‘India’ alliance is to save democracy. Like-minded parties have come together respecting the Constitution.
