New Delhi. Pakistan’s young fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, who destroyed the top order of the Indian cricket team, does not like former Indian captain Virat Kohli’s wicket. Afridi won a lot of applause for his quick bowling against India in the third match of the Asia Cup 2023. He shocked India by clean bowling legendary batsmen like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli at the Pallekele International Stadium. Ishaan Kishan and Hardik Pandya have to be praised for carrying the Indian team despite the early setbacks.
Shaheen Afridi took 4 wickets against India. He denied Hardik Pandya a century along with Virat and Rohit while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was shown the way to the pavilion before being set. The Indian top order looked helpless against Shahin’s fiery bowling. Afridi said that the plan worked out with the new ball in the team meeting.
‘Fast bowlers’ plan worked’
After the end of the Indian innings, Shaheen Afridi said, ‘This was our plan with the new ball. I think the wickets of both (Virat and Rohit) were important. Every batter is equal to me. But I think Rohit’s wicket was better. Our fast bowlers’ plan worked. All 10 Indian wickets were taken by Pakistani fast bowlers. Apart from Afridi, young fast bowler Naseem Shah took 3 wickets while Haris Rauf also took 3 wickets.
‘Old ball will make chasing easier’
According to Shaheen Afridi, ‘Naseem Shah is bowling at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour. Really glad to see this. It’s really fast. The new ball was probably swing and seaming. Once the ball is old, runs will be scored easily while chasing the target. ‘India lost their 4 big wickets for 66 runs but then Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya put on 138 runs for the fifth wicket and took India to a respectable score. Team India returned to the pavilion scoring 266 runs with 7 balls remaining. Pandya scored 87 runs while Isha played an innings of 82 runs.
