New Delhi. Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razak feels that Babar Azam should not panic and consider making a change if the Pakistan team loses to India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 group stage encounter. Pakistan recently became the No. 1 ODI team and entered the Asia Cup after winning the series against Afghanistan. They started their campaign with a huge 238-run win against Nepal in the opening match of the tournament at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
With a strong top order and a world-class bowling unit, Pakistan have fielded a formidable playing eleven. Iftikhar Ahmed scored his maiden ODI century against Nepal, their erratic middle order also stepped up. In such a situation, Abdul Razak has described the current playing XI on Jio Super as balanced.
He said, “Look, the current Pakistan playing XI is quite balanced. You have a decent batsman and all-rounder in the middle order. You have full power in speed and spin attacks. You have everything. You should only have one team, this is the best combination.
The upcoming India-Pakistan match between the arch-rivals is going to be the first ODI since the 2019 ODI World Cup in England. If all goes well, fans will be able to watch a total of three matches between India and Pakistan in the 2023 Asia Cup. The first match can be played in the group stage, the second in the Super 4 stage and the third in the final. It is noteworthy that in the 40-year history of the tournament, both the teams have never reached the final in the same edition.
Babar Azam believes that this much-awaited match will live up to his expectations. He said during the post-match presentation after Pakistan’s win against Nepal, “This match was a good preparation for the match against India as it gave us confidence. India-Pakistan is always exciting. We want to give 100% in every match, hopefully we will do the same there.
The India-Pakistan match will be played on Saturday, September 2 at the Pallekele International Stadium. However, the match is likely to be affected due to rain.
