Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah said that the third and final T20I against Ireland was washed out due to rain, not expecting the match to be called off due to favorable weather conditions. With this, India has won the three-match series 2-0. Led by returning fast bowler Bumrah, India won the first rain-affected match by two runs and the second by 33 runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method.
After the match was called off, Bumrah said, “It was frustrating waiting for the match. We didn’t expect it because the weather was good earlier. Even when it was raining, they (players) were excited and eager.
“I don’t think about it (the injury). When you get an opportunity to captain your team, you always take it. As a cricketer you always enjoy the responsibility.
Bumrah, who was adjudged player of the series, said on his injury, “All good, no complaints.” Ireland captain Paul Stirling said he did well in bits and pieces and there are many positives for the team.
He said, “Well done in bits and pieces. There are a lot of positive sides but it’s about overcoming those bouts. Whenever India comes here, there is always good cricket of high quality.” Sterling said, “It would have been better if the match had been played today. It was good to give some new faces a chance. The journey towards the T20 World Cup continues. This is 10 months of preparation.
