“Pragyan playing in Chandamama’s lap”: ISRO shares new video of Chandrayaan-3 rover

ISRO has given a very nice caption while sharing this video. The space agency wrote – “Pragyan rover Chanda is playing on Mama’s lap. Lander Vikram is looking at her (Pragyan) like a mother lovingly looks at her child playing. Don’t you think so? This is from the moon. The latest rover is Pragyan Vikram Lander.” The video has come a day after the photo was shared.

Earlier, Chandrayaan-3 had sent the first observation in the morning and the second in the evening on August 28, the fifth day after reaching the moon. Evidence of the presence of sulfur has been found at the south pole of the Moon. Apart from sulphur, presence of aluminium, calcium, iron, chromium and titanium has also been found there.

The ChaSTE payload fitted to Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander sent the first observation related to the Moon’s temperature. According to ChaSTE, the temperature on the surface of the moon and at different depths varies greatly.

ISRO landed Chandrayaan-3 on the South Pole of the Moon at 6.04 pm on August 23. It was launched on 14 July from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Chandrayaan-3 orbited the Earth 21 times and the Moon 120 times in 40 days. Chandrayaan traveled 55 lakh km to cover a distance of 3.84 lakh km to the moon.

The rover changed its course
Four days ago, ISRO said that the rover had successfully changed course after hitting a crater four meters deep on the moon’s surface. ISRO said the temperature on the surface of the moon’s south pole is about 50 degrees Celsius. At the same time, a temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius was recorded at a depth of 80 mm.

The landing took place on 23 August
Please note that August 31 is the eighth day of Chandrayaan-3’s moon landing. Rover Pragya has confirmed sulfur on the Moon for the second time. ISRO said that this time the Alpha Practice X-ray Spectroscope (APXS) mounted on Pragyan has confirmed the presence of sulphur. The space agency also said it is now trying to figure out where the sulfur on the moon came from – the interior, volcanoes or meteorites?
