The first glimpse was seen in Kuakheda village in Damoh district, where farmer Manoj Patel has started beekeeping at a cost of Rs 2 to 3 lakh. The number of bees increases every year. The government also continuously encourages farmers to take up this profession. The central government also provides 80 to 85% subsidy on beekeeping. Apart from this, other state governments also encourage farmers to take up this profession.

At the same time, the government is providing up to 40 percent subsidy to farmers interested in beekeeping. Up to 75% subsidy to general category farmers and up to 90% subsidy to SC-ST category farmers for honey colony including beehive, honey extractor and processing.

Manoj Patel, a farmer of Kuakheda village, said that he has bought 50 boxes at a cost of 2 lakh rupees. As the boxes grew, so did the business and so did the profits. At present I get a profit of 5 to 6 lakhs. Besides, I also sell it on Amazon apart from the markets, preparing honey under the Bundeli brand name. Currently we have litchi, neem, multiflora, tulsi, acacia, jamun, mustard and ajwain honey available.
