Gauhar/Delhi. A city like Delhi has many such shops whose history and stories associated with them are very interesting. One such shop is called ‘Lahore Music House’. It is a music instruments shop and is said to have hosted famous rock bands from ‘The Beatles’ to ‘Bade Ghulam Ali Khan’ and ‘Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’.
Shop owner ‘Jaspal Singh’ said that ‘Lahore Music House’ was started in 1915 from ‘Anarkali Bazar’ in Lahore, Pakistan. The shop was started by his grandfather ‘Tara Singh’, then his father ‘Harcharan Singh’ took over the shop and now he himself is running the shop. He said that all the members of the famous rock band ‘Beatles’ have visited this shop. He also said that his father ‘Harcharan Singh’ gave the Beatles a performance on several Indian musical instruments at the hotel where they stayed overnight and also gave them many lessons, especially on the sitar. ‘Beatles’ also asked his father to go with him to ‘London’ to teach him something new. All the members of the ‘Beatles’ also gave him their autographs.
Many actors have come since Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
‘Jaspal’ said that ‘Bade Ghulam Ali Khan’ came to his shop, whom he met himself. ‘Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’ has also come to his shop with many people. And ‘Begum Akhtar’ often gave him harmoniums for repair in his shop. Then he himself used to give the harmonium to them and he never took money from ‘Begum Akhtar’ to get the harmonium repaired. ‘Priyanka Gandhi’ even bought anklets from this shop as a child, which was later paid by ‘Indira Gandhi’ through a cheque. ‘Pandit Ravi Shankar’ and ‘Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’ have also visited his shop.
