Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna narrowly missed out on making history at the US Open when he and partner Matthew Ebden lost to two-time defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in the US Open men’s doubles final. Rohan Bopanna on Thursday became the oldest player to reach a men’s doubles Grand Slam final in the Open era. He broke the record of Canada’s Daniel Nestor, who reached the 2016 Australian Open final at the age of 43 years and 4 months. Now he had a chance to make history by winning the final, but he missed. The pair of Bopanna and Ebden lost the title match 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Two-time defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury came from behind in the first set to take commanding leads in the next two sets to win their third straight US Open men’s doubles title.
With this victory, the pair of Ram and Salisbury won the US Open championship for the third time in a row. Ram and Salisbury became the first men’s team in the Open era to achieve a three-peat at the US Open as they defeated Bopanna and Ebden 2–6, 6–3, 6–4.
Earlier, Australia’s pair of Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden advanced to the men’s doubles final of the US Open with a straight-set win over the French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut on Thursday. The pair of Bopanna and Ebden won this semi-final match 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.

Bopanna has made it to the Grand Slam men’s doubles final for the second time in his career. The sixth-ranked Indian-Australian duo reached the semi-finals of the Wimbledon Championships this year. Bopanna missed out on her second Grand Slam title after winning the French Open mixed doubles championship in 2017.
