New Delhi. The Indian team’s wait for the ICC ODI World Cup is over. Team India’s 15-member squad was announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar on 5 September. Injured KL Rahul managed to return fit to the squad when the backup player had to be dropped in his place in the Asia Cup. Captain Rohit Sharma emphasized this in the press conference and said that every time someone is left out.
The Indian squad for the ICC World Cup to be held in India this year has been announced. The squad was finalized minus 2 players from the squad selected for the Asia Cup and Sanju Samson who was kept on standby. Tilak Verma and the legendary Krishna have been left out of the squad selected for the World Cup by the selectors. Captain Rohit Sharma wanted to keep Sanju Samson in this team but his place could not be made.
After the team announcement, Rohit Sharma said, “Every World Cup is like this. If you want, just look at the starting team. One or the other player who makes a claim is dropped. You can select only 15 players for the World Cup. After the increase in the number of talented players in India, some players face disappointment. For those who didn’t get selected this time, I have to say that you have to wait for your chance and be ready for it with your head held high.
The Indian captain also spoke about keeping him out. Rohit said, “Look, everyone knows that someone had to stay out. It’s definitely frustrating for them and things like that happen all the time but it’s something you can’t do anything about. This has happened to me too. I know how it feels when you don’t get a place in the team.”
