New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to interfere with a petition filed by the Wrestling Federation of India seeking a stay on the Punjab Haryana High Court’s order staying the proposed August 12 election. The court advised the petitioner Andhra Pradesh Wrestling Federation to file a petition to present its arguments in the High Court which imposed a stay. Instead of going to the High Court and petitioning to lift the ban, the petitioners approached the Supreme Court directly. On August 17, a petition challenging the High Court’s order was filed in the Supreme Court. But the Supreme Court showed him the way to the High Court.

The Supreme Court said that the Punjab and Haryana High Court will hear the matter. The Andhra Pradesh Wrestling Association argues that it is not fair to ban the elections of the entire federation because of one organization, as it is creating problems for Indian wrestlers to compete in international competitions. United World Wrestling has also revoked the recognition of Indian Wrestling Federation for the same reason due to non-election.
