Scam 2003….. Some time back ‘Scam 1992’ was released on the OTT platform. Based on the Harshad Mehta scam, this web series rocked the OTT world. When now ‘Scam 2003’ has come. Based on the 2003 scam, the web series is being streamed on Sony Live. Like ‘Scam 1992’, ‘Scam 2003’ also depicts the story of a common man rising from humble beginnings. Let’s know the good and bad things about this web series. At the end of the review, we will also tell you whether it can compete with ‘Scam 1992’ or not. Read our review.
Such is the story of the web series
This whole story revolves around Abdul Karim (Gagan Dev Riyar). Abdul Karim is passionate about making money, not making money. But, luck is not on his side. Even after doing B.Com he works as a fruit seller in trains and chants various slogans. However, his luck shines when he catches sight of a businessman traveling on a train. Sheth gives him an excuse to come to Mumbai and his fate takes him from Mumbai to Dubai. He starts a business of sending youths to Dubai on fake documents to earn money and gets caught. But, his steps don’t stop here, he does dare after dare without any fear to earn money and then….
This is the most important thing in the series
The web series is based on Sanjay Singh’s book ‘Telgi Scam: A Reporter’s Diary’. The most special thing about this series is its music. The makers have also kept the title music used in ‘Scam 1992’ in this series. This title music makes the story come alive. As soon as I hear the title song, Harshad Mehta comes to my mind and makes me want to watch Telgi’s next story. While Gagan Dev Riyar’s performance as Abdul Karim is the icing on the cake. His looks, his gestures and his way of speaking all seem perfect. After watching his performance, it can be said for sure that like Harshad Mehta like Pratik Gandhi, his demand may increase in future. Apart from the acting and music, the dialogues of the series are also amazing.
Lost here
Despite good acting, music and dialogues, ‘Scam 2003’ could not leave the same impression as ‘Scam 1992’. In fact, the story of the web series did not feel strong. Being a sequel to ‘Scam 1992’, expectations were high from this web series. Everyone expected the same crime-thriller drama from ‘Scam 2003’. But, the thrill is missing from ‘Scam 2003’. Due to the lack of thrill, the story started to feel boring at some places. As such, the series has only five episodes. But, even these five episodes seem long. This can be made a little more fun.
See or not?
Gagan Dev’s performance is amazing. But, due to the boring story, the makers failed to create a charm like Telgi’s Harshad Mehta. However, this series can be viewed once. This weekend can be spent with ‘Scam 2003’ starring Gagan Dev, the rising star of the OTT platform.
