New Delhi. Pakistan’s young fast bowler Shaheen Afridi gave a memorable performance against Team India in Asia Cup 2023. 23-year-old Afridi took 4 wickets for 35 runs in 10 overs. Apart from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, it includes the big wickets of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. The Indian team could not get off to a good start because of Afridi. He took the big wickets of Pandya and Jadeja in the last over. Due to which Team India could not reach the score of 300 runs. Batting first, the Indian team was all out after scoring 266 runs in 48.5 overs.
Shaheen Afridi is counted among the best bowlers in the world. But he could not surpass his father-in-law Shahid Afridi’s record. In August 2004, i.e. 19 years ago, in a tri-series match, Pakistan defeated the Indian team by 66 runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method. In that match, Shahid Afridi took 4 wickets by giving 20 runs in 6 overs. This is his best performance against India. Afridi also scored 19 runs in 14 balls in the match. Pakistan scored 192 runs for 6 wickets in 33 overs in the match. India got a target of 194 runs in 33 overs, but the team returned to the pavilion with 127 runs in 27 overs.

Shaheen Afridi’s ODI record is superb. He has so far taken 82 wickets in 40 innings at an average of 22. 6 wickets for 35 runs is the best performance. He has taken 4 wickets 6 times and 5 wickets 2 times. Pakistan registered a huge victory over Nepal by 238 runs in their first match of the Asia Cup. If the team is successful in winning the match against India then they will qualify for Super-4. In such a situation, the match to be played between India and Nepal on September 4 will be like a knockout. The team that wins this match will become the second team from the group to make it to Super-4.
