Shahid Afridi failed in Super Over, didn’t work against IPL star, lost in final

New Delhi. Shahid Afridi has retired from international cricket. But he is still playing in leagues around the world. He is known for his fast batting, but could not impress in the finals of the T10 league held in America. Due to which his team lost in Super Over. Texas Chargers beat New York Warriors in Super Over in US Masters T10 finals. Sohail Tanveer, who bowled brilliantly in IPL 2008, did not allow Afridi to score runs in the super over. Batting first in the match, Warriors scored 92 runs for 6 wickets in 10 overs. In reply, the Chargers were all out for 92 runs. The 39-year-old fast bowler Sohail Khan took 5 wickets for the Warriors, but he could not lead the team to victory. He took 4 wickets in a single over.

Talking about the super over, Texas Chargers scored 15 runs for one wicket in the first game. This over was bowled by Sohail Khan. Mohammad Hafeez took a single off the first ball. Captain Ben Dunk hit a six off the second ball, but was dismissed on the third ball. Mukhtar Ahmed could not score a run on the fourth ball. 2 runs off the 5th ball and Mukhtar hit a six off the last ball to take the score to 15 runs. Thus New York Warriors needed 16 runs to win the match.

Afridi could score only one run in 3 balls
Left-arm fast bowler Sohail Tanveer came to bowl a super over from Texas Chargers. Shahid Afridi took a single off Tanveer’s first ball. Jonathan Carter hits a four off the second ball. He took a single on the third ball. Afridi failed to score a run on the fourth ball while taking one run off the 5th ball. Carter definitely hit a six off the final ball, but the team could only score 13 runs. Thus, the Chargers won the super over by 2 runs in a thriller.

Hafeez played another important innings
Earlier, Jonathan Carter from New York Warriors scored an unbeaten 39 runs in 17 balls to take the score to 90 runs. At one point the team was struggling losing 5 wickets for 44 runs. Ehsan Adil took 3 wickets. In reply, opener batsman Mohammad Hafeez from Texas Chargers played an explosive innings of 46 runs off 17 balls. He hit 4 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Ben Dunk also scored 20 runs in 12 balls. At one point the score of the team was 75 runs for 2 wickets. But Sohail Khan took 5 wickets and dismissed the Chargers team for 92 runs. Shahid Afridi also took 2 wickets. In the last over, the Chargers needed 9 runs to win with 2 wickets to spare. 8 runs were scored in the first 4 balls. Sohail Tanveer hit Afridi’s fourth ball for a six. But Afridi tied the match by taking 2 wickets in the last 2 balls.

Record intact in IPL
38-year-old Sohail Tanveer made his debut in IPL 2008. After this, Pakistani players were banned from entering the T20 league after the Mumbai attacks. Then Rajasthan also won the title. This record remained intact for 11 years. In 2019, West Indies’ Alzari Joseph took 6 wickets for 12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad while playing for Mumbai Indians, breaking Tanveer’s record. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez was the player of the series. Apart from taking 7 wickets, he also scored 210 runs in the tournament.
