Stock markets opened flat trading, with both major indices in the green

Mumbai:

Trading started on flat notes in the stock markets of the country on Wednesday. Both the indices were trading in the green mark with marginal gains. Sensex was trading up 63 points to 65843 and Nifty up 13 points to 19588. In the Nifty 50, 31 stocks are seeing demand and 19 are under selling pressure. The stocks that are rising here include shares of ONGC, POWERGRID, CIPLA, WIPRO, ULTRACEMCO. Among the stocks that are seeing decline here are shares of JIOFIN, HINDALCO, ASIANPAINT, NESTLEIND, BAJFINANCE.

It may be noted that domestic stock markets closed higher for the third consecutive trading session on Tuesday due to buying in majors ITC, Reliance Industries and Infosys amid weak trend in global markets. According to traders, strong macro-economic data also helped strengthen the positive sentiment in the market.

BSE’s 30-share benchmark Sensex closed up 152.12 points, or 0.23 percent, at 65,780.26 points. At one stage during the trading, it jumped 203.56 points to reach 65,831.70 points. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty also closed up 46.10 points or 0.24 percent at 19,574.90 points.

Among the Sensex companies, Sun Pharma managed to gain the highest gain of 2.09 percent. Apart from this, ITC, Titan, Bajaj Finance, Nestle, Infosys, L&T, JSW Steel, Reliance Industries and Kotak Mahindra Bank have also closed. On the other hand, Ultratech Cement, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Bank, Wipro, State Bank of India and NTPC were lagging behind.
