Read on the application

If you have submitted Form 60/61 during the financial year 2021-22, an SMS/email may be sent to you from the Income Tax Department. In this message, the Income Tax department asks the reporting entity to submit the PAN card within 15 days. If there is no PAN, Form 49A is required to be applied for the same.

What is Form 60: Financial transactions often require a person to quote or submit their Permanent Account Number (PAN). If the person does not have PAN, Form 60 has to be submitted. This form is a kind of declaration, in which the applicant has to give information about his name, address and absence of PAN number. On the other hand, if we talk about Form 49A, through it you can apply for PAN card.

Message from Income Tax Department: The department’s message reads that – Information has been received regarding some transactions reported by you in Form 60/61 during the financial year 2021-22. If you do not have PAN number, apply immediately under Form 49A. If PAN, the PAN number should be submitted to the reporting entity within 15 days.

Officer of Income Tax Department Twitter The handle tweeted to confirm the sending of the SMS. Department said it is genuine SMS/email. Recipients of this SMS/email please note: If you do not have PAN, you are requested to obtain PAN and report the PAN to the Reporting Entity (RE).”
