Let us tell you that India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 has landed on the surface of the moon this evening. ISRO scientists have termed the 20 minutes before Chandrayaan-3’s landing as “20 minutes of terror” for India. The landing of Chandrayaan-3, scheduled to take place at 6.04 pm today, was telecast live across the country. Schools were open for the event. The live telecast of the landing started at 5.20 pm on ISRO’s website, YouTube channel and DD National. At 6.04 pm, the Vikram lander, rover Pragya has made a soft landing at the South Pole of the Moon.
Let us tell you that the Moon Lander was launched on July 14 on the LVM 3 heavy-lift launch vehicle. It was placed into lunar orbit on August 5. Lander Vikram is named after Vikram Sarabhai, widely regarded as the father of the Indian space programme. After the Chandrayaan mission, ISRO has several projects, one of which is the mission to study the Sun and the manned space flight program, Gaganyaan. India’s first space-based observatory to study the Sun, Aditya-L1, is gearing up for launch, possibly in the first week of September.
