Sunny Deol said during the promotions of ‘Gadar 2’ that his real struggle started after ‘Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’. In an interview given to ABP, he said, ‘My struggle started after Gadar. After giving such a big film, I was not getting subjects. The company was not asking us to do something. Let us tell you that after ‘Gadar’ proved to be a blockbuster, only one or two of Sunny’s films were hits. The remaining 33 films were flops.

‘Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’ in the year 2001 earned Rs 76.65 crore at the Indian box office. On the other hand, the recently released ‘Gadar 2’ has collected Rs 410.7 crore in 13 days at the Indian box office. As far as the worldwide box office is concerned, ‘Gadar’ and ‘Gadar 2’ have collected Rs. 132.60 crore and Rs. 535 crores earned.
