Supreme Court gives major relief to UP's AKTU University on college affiliation

Uttar Pradesh Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has got a major relief from the Supreme Court in the matter of affiliation of colleges. The Supreme Court has allowed AKTU to start the admission process for other courses including B.Tech. The court has given AKTU till September 15 to grant affiliation. After this decision, the stalled counseling process of the colleges will start.

This decision of the Supreme Court will provide relief to lakhs of students and more than 750 colleges. After registration till 20th August, the counseling was stopped due to non-completion on time.

During the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court, AGR Venkataramani appeared on behalf of AKTU and Harish Pandey on behalf of AICTE and Ajay Kumar Singh on behalf of Pharmacy Council of India. During the hearing of the case, Attorney General R Venkataramani said that this is a matter related to the future of millions of children.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to grant relief to AKTU in the month of August. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh could not issue affiliation letters to affiliated engineering colleges on time. All India Council for Technical Education has fixed July 31 as the date for affiliation letter.
