Tata Communications has received relief from the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT). The company has received Rs. 991.5 crore license fee demand was challenged in TDSAT. On the company’s application, TDSAT has asked the DoT not to take any coercive action till the next date of hearing.

In a demand letter dated August 8, 2023, the Department of Telecom asked the company to pay Rs. 991.54 crore was demanded. This demand relates to International Long Distance (ILD) and Internet Service Provider (ISP) and National Long Distance (NLD) services.
“The company has challenged these fee demands before TDSAT,” Tata Communications said in a stock exchange disclosure on Friday. After hearing both sides, the Appellate Tribunal, in its order dated 14 August 2023, stayed the Department of Telecom from taking any punitive action till the next hearing.
The company said it has included the disputed amount in the accounts linked to the financial results for the June 2023 quarter. “It has already been treated as part of contingent liabilities for the quarter ending June 30, 2023,” the notice said.
