New Delhi. The Indian cricket team has started the T20 series with a great win in Ireland. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, the Ireland team could score only 139 runs for 7 wickets. Chasing the target, the Indian team scored 47 runs for 2 wickets in 6.5 overs when the match had to be stopped due to rain. India was declared the winner based on the Duckworth-Lewis rule.
Forgetting the T20 series defeat in the West Indies, the Indian team started with a win against Ireland with a new captain. On the basis of lethal bowling, India gave an early shock and prevented the Ireland team from scoring big. Barry McCarthy came in at number eight and scored a half-century to take the team to a respectable score of 139 runs. Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rituraj Gaikwad opened for the Indian team chasing the target. Jaiswal was dismissed for 24 runs while Rituraj remained unbeaten for 19 runs.
Decision taken by D/L rule
The first T20 match against Ireland was already reported to be interrupted by rain. The game could not be played after 6.5 overs of India’s innings due to rain. By this time the Indian team had made 47 runs for 2 wickets. According to the Duckworth-Lewis rule, Team India was ahead by 2 runs and the team was declared the winner by the same number of runs.
Huge comeback from Bumrah
