Patna: The Bihar government has asked several district education officers to take the education department’s directive “seriously” and hold daily “virtual” meetings with all school principals to improve the quality of education in the state. The directive came after the state education department found that such meetings with principals of all government schools were not held on a daily basis.

State Education Department Additional Chief Secretary K. No. Pathak said in a letter that the number of virtual meetings is between 65,000 to 70,000 despite there being 75,309 government schools across Bihar. He said in the letter, “The department is analyzing the consolidated report on compliance of its mandate regarding conducting video conference of all schools on a regular basis. It is learned that the department is getting details of video conferencing being held in 65,000 schools on a daily basis.
He said that in just one day, the department has received the details of virtual meetings of 70,000 schools from the concerned district education officers. The Additional Chief Secretary said, ‘There are a total of 75,309 government schools in the state. The DEOs (District Education Officers) who are not video conferencing with the rest of the schools should take the department’s order seriously… and ensure that daily video conferences are held with all 75,309 schools (Principals) and the department is updated.
