The portals of the famous Sri Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara located in the Upper Garhwal Himalayan region of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district will be closed for devotees on October 11 for winter this year. Gurdwara Shree Hemkund Sahib Management Trust President Narendrajit Singh Bindra said in a statement that the decision has been taken to close the doors of Shree Hemkund Sahib at 1 pm on October 11 this year. He said that this year’s yatra will conclude with the closing of doors.
Bindra said that so far this year 2 lakh 27 thousand 500 devotees have attended the Guru’s Durbar and paid obeisance. He said that the number of passengers is increasing due to the start of the season.

Appealing to the commuters, he said that there is little time left before the gates close, so devotees who want to travel should travel on time.
Bindra said helicopter service has been resumed from Govitghat to Khandaria for the convenience of pilgrims, while langar and night rest facilities are also available at all Gurdwaras and Dharamshalas of the trust beyond Haridwar.
