The rupee fell 15 paise to 82.77 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday. The strengthening of the US currency and the rise in crude oil prices had an impact on the local currency. The rupee opened at 82.71 and later settled at 82.77 per dollar in the interbank foreign exchange market. This is a decrease of 15 paisa from the previous closing level.
The rupee closed at 82.62 against the dollar on Friday. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which tracks the US dollar’s position against a basket of six major currencies, fell 0.06 percent to 104.17.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were up 0.01 percent at $88.56 a barrel.
