While the ICC Cricket World Cup is starting in India, the Asian Games are being organized in China at the same time. Indian cricket team is also participating in it. The captain of this team is Ruturaj Gaekwad and has decided to send a young team India to China. Meanwhile, there is news that the name of the head coach of the Indian cricket team for the Asian Games 2023 has been confirmed. BCCI will make an official announcement soon.
If reports are to be believed, veteran batsman and National Cricket Academy i.e. NCA chief VVS Laxman will be the head coach of the team at the Asian Games. At the same time, Hrishikesh Kanitkar will be the interim head coach of the Indian women’s cricket team. The Asian Games will be held from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China. Laxman is currently overseeing a high performance camp for India’s budding players at Alur near Bangalore.

Besides Laxman, the Indian men’s team’s support staff for the Asiad will include former Indian leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule as bowling coach and Munish Bali as fielding coach, reports TOI. Coming to the Indian women’s team, the appointment of a new head coach and support staff has been postponed until the start of the new international domestic season in December. In such a situation, Rajib Dutta will go to China as bowling coach and Subhdeep Ghosh as fielding coach along with Kanitkar.
