News Desk/Odisha. The second season of Ultimate Kho Kho (UKK) is about to take place. For this, the drafting of players was successfully done on 21st November in Bhubaneswar. Six franchises selected players each. 30 players have been selected in category A for 6 lakh rupees, 36 players for 5 lakh rupees in category B, 55 players for 3 lakh rupees in category C, 24 players for category D. Players have been selected for 1.5 lakh rupees.
These 6 teams will be included
6 teams will participate in the tournament. These include Odisha Juggernauts, Chennai Quick Guns, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Khiladi, Rajasthan Warriors and Telugu Yoddha. A total of Rs. 3.90 crore, 245 players were selected, while 18 players were retained by the franchise. Players who were part of Season 1 but were not retained are known as pole players. The league provided a platform for new talent by placing them in the dream player category. A new group of players recommended by franchises or the Indian Kho Kho Federation are called Dream Players.
Defending champions Odisha Juggernauts retained four players from last season, while Chennai Quick Guns retained three players, including Player of the Tournament Ramji Kashyap and Young Player of the Tournament Madan. Meanwhile, Gujarat giants retained defender of the tournament Abhinandan Patil and two others. The Mumbai players have two players from last season, Gajanan Shengal and Sreejesh S. The other two teams, Rajasthan Warriors and Telugu Warriors, retained three players each.
This game will soon get international recognition!
Indian Kho-Kho Federation President Sudhanshu Mittal said that Ultimate Kho-Kho has given international recognition to a sport that was previously confined to rural areas or communities. Today it has gained popularity and players are getting jobs, awards and admissions in colleges because of this sport. The sport will soon gain international recognition. He said that at the draft event I felt like Kho Kho’s dream come true.
The auction will start from the third season
Mittal said that this year we have not raised money in the draft, but from the third season we will do the auction. It will increase the importance of the game. Players will get more money. He said that the second season of Ultimate Kho-Kho aims to breathe new life into the ancient Indian game. After the resounding success of the first season, the league is all set to return with its second season in Cuttack between 24 December 2023 and 14 January 2024. Continuing this exciting journey, the upcoming season promises even more excitement and talent.
