Behind this, he argued that the American people knew him well, so there was no need for a public debate with his rivals for the White House.

AFP According to the report, in a message on his platform Truth Social, Trump described his impressive success record as president and attributed it to his popularity with the American people. “So I won’t discuss,” he said. The first debate in the 2024 Republican presidential nomination race is scheduled for Wednesday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
62 percent will vote for Trump: survey
In his post, Trump cited polls that show him well ahead of the Republican field, including one published Sunday by CBS News. It said 62 percent of those surveyed would vote for him, even though he has been convicted four times this year. The charges against him include trying to destroy American democracy by planning to subvert the 2020 election and staying in office despite losing to Joe Biden.
Trump’s closest challenger, Ron DeSantis, had 16% of the vote
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Trump’s closest contender in the CBS poll, had 16 percent of the vote. At the same time, the remaining candidates in this race are expected to get the same number of votes. Donald Trump wrote that DeSantis was “cracking like a sick bird.”
Citing several issues including energy, border security, the military and the economy, Trump said, “The public knows who I am and how successful my presidency has been.”
