Mumbai. Veteran actress Seema Dev, who worked in Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan starrer cult film Anand, has passed away. She was 81 years old. He acted in more than 90 Hindi and Marathi films. Seema Dev breathed her last at her Bandra home on Thursday morning. She had been suffering from age-related ailments for a long time. She was suffering from Alzheimer’s for the last 3 years and was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Mumbai. Her husband Ramesh Dev is also a veteran Bollywood actor.
Seema Dev and Ramesh Dev have two sons Ajinkya Dev and Abhinay Dev. Ajinkya has acted in hundreds of Hindi and Marathi films. Abhinay Dev directed many films like ‘Delhi Belly’, ‘Game’ and ‘Force 2’. “He passed away at 8.30 am at his home in Bandra due to age-related ailments,” Abhinay said in a statement to PTI.
Abhinay Dev further said, “Alzheimer’s is a disease that you don’t even know how to work with. He first had dementia and then Alzheimer’s. She was suffering from it for more than three years. There is no definite cause of his death. Alzheimer’s and dementia cause memory loss. Muscles begin to weaken. And one by one the organs start to stop working.
Born as Nalini Saraf in Mumbai, Seema Dev started working in the Indian film industry from the era of black and white films. He acted in nearly 90 Hindi and Marathi films in a career spanning over 6 decades. She is best remembered for her lead role in the musical blockbuster Anand starring her husband Ramesh and Amitabh Bachchan-Rajesh Khanna.
