Babar Azam ducks in international cricket: Pakistan captain and dashing batsman Babar Azam lost his strength in the first ODI against Afghanistan on Tuesday. His bat remained completely silent. In one down, Babar was out for zero after playing three balls. He trapped spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman in the last ball of the second over. Babar looked to save the ball down the stump line but was left lbw. He took a review but to no avail. The third umpire also declared Babar out.
Let us tell you that Babar has become the victim of 16th duck (zero) in his international career. He made his debut in international cricket in 2015. Babar has 7 dismissals in Tests, 4 dismissals in ODIs and 5 dismissals in T20 Internationals. He returned to the pavilion for a wicket in the first innings in the ODI against Afghanistan. Interestingly, two of Babar’s last three duck zeroes in international cricket have come against Afghanistan. He was earlier dismissed on 7 September 2022 in a T20 match against Afghanistan.
Talking about the first ODI, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat at the Hambantota ground. Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman was dismissed on the fourth ball of the first over after scoring 2 runs. He was bowled by Fazal Haq Farooqui. Mohammad Rizwan (21) tried to hang on but was dismissed lbw by Mujib in the eighth over. Agha Salman (7) was shown the way to the pavilion by Rashid Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed (30) by Mohammad Nabi. Pakistan added 112 runs and lost 5 wickets.
