Incident caught on camera: A video has surfaced of dozens of university students falling into a lake near the campus in America. It is being said that 60 to 80 students were sitting on a wooden bridge across the lake when it collapsed. The incident took place on Monday afternoon on America’s Labor Day, the footage of which is going viral on social media. The police department said 25 people were injured when the wooden bridge collapsed.
After receiving information about the incident, the Madison Fire Department dispatched a team to Lake Mendota. ABC News further reported that the diving team conducted a deep underwater search to ensure that no one was trapped under the water. At the same time, eyewitnesses said, ‘They were shocked to see what happened.’
The student, Gabrielle Willebrandt, told WMTV, ‘I turned to this girl, we were like oh my God! Did this really happen? This student was sitting on the same bridge that collapsed some time ago. Another student, Nicole Mitchell, told a local news agency, ‘Me and my friend, who I was swimming with, heard a loud noise and saw the whole bridge collapsing.’ The students swam back to shore with their phones out of the water.
On the other hand, the New York Post has reported that, ‘This bridge over the lake was to be removed only last year. An inquiry committee has been formed to probe the incident.
