Johannesburg. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a brief interaction at the 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. They shook hands and greeted each other. In a video shared by news agency ANI, PM Modi was seen talking to the Chinese President while on his way to the BRICS leaders’ briefing. Prime Minister Modi and Xi Jinping attended the plenary session on Wednesday, but stood apart during the photo session.
Last November, PM Modi shook hands with the Chinese president and held a brief conversation at a formal dinner for G20 leaders in Bali, the first public face-to-face between the two top leaders since the start of the military standoff in Ladakh in 2020. Had a meeting.

Relations between India and China have been strained since June 2020 when the two armies clashed in the Galwan Valley. The two countries have held 19 rounds of military-level talks to resolve the situation.
