The President of South Africa, who had already stepped on his country’s flag, notices this and raises his flag as well. Then they hand it over to one of their female colleagues. The woman even offered to take the flag from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but he pointed out that it was in his pocket.
Prime Minister Modi is in South Africa to attend the BRICS Summit, a group of India, Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa.

Speculation of PM Modi’s meeting with Xi Jinping
There is speculation about a possible meeting between the Prime Minister and Chinese President Xi Jinping, but nothing has been confirmed yet. External Affairs Secretary Vinay Kwatra had earlier said that the prime minister’s schedule was “currently being decided”.
While leaving for the summit, the Prime Minister said he hoped the meeting would provide a useful opportunity for all members to “identify future areas of cooperation”. He said, “…BRICS has become a platform for discussion and deliberation on issues of concern to the Global South.”
